Balance of Intention
There is a principle in Indian cultural wisdom that a meal tastes of the emotion with which it was cooked. Love makes it satisfying; anger makes it uneasy. The same is true of a textile. The emotion of the weaver is inextricably bound to the thread. This is the foundational principle of TASTA: to create pieces where the emotion of the craft is the primary element.
Our design philosophy is The Balance of Intention, guided by the Gujarati belief that “સાદગીમાં સૌંદર્ય છે”, there is beauty in simplicity. We translate the rich aesthetic language of the Bharat's region through a disciplined system of limitation. By constraining a design to just one or two motifs and a palette of two or three colours, we create the space for the human hand to be felt.
An Unspoken Inheritance
The genesis of TASTA lies not in a business plan, but in a piece of personal history: our founder's mother's wedding saree. It was a Patola of a deep Mehendi-olive shade, a colour that would later become our signature, not by strategy, but by the demand of women in our community who saw it and felt a connection.
In that saree, and in her mother's wedding jewellery, was a truth. The jewellery, crafted by a goldsmith's hand, not a machine, possessed a richness in imperfection. The Patola, considered sacred stridhan and a ward against misfortune, held a sense of royalty achieved only with thread. These heirlooms were not maximalist, nor were they minimalist. They were balanced. They were the proof of our philosophy.
Principle in Practice
TASTA was established in 2018 as a result of the founder's decision to pursue practical mastery over a traditional career. The first studio was intentionally small to build a meaningful foundation.
Today, that principle of balance guides our ambitions. In a world of extremes, we stand for a focused, intentional aesthetic. Our purpose is not confined to a single runway or category; it is to build a global house of modern Indian luxury. This philosophy, born from clothing, will inform every object we create, from accessories to jewellery, making a clear statement on the world stage: that the future of luxury lies in this perfect, intentional balance, where the artisan's instinct is the most valuable material of all.
